Statement

Painting landscapes is part of discovering my sense of place. I've lived within several miles of where I am now for all of my life. I'm glad to be here now, but it wasn't always so.

For years a part of me wanted to move my family to "new ground". We didn't. Time moved on and I began to look around me, to try to see the place where I was with new eyes.

It all started with the Jones Farm. Seeing it in all seasons could be looking at the paintings of the Englishman, John Constable. The farm's quiet peace and wonder will be there, I hope, for all of us who stay here or those who come back to visit.

My paintings reflect a moment of time and space visually that was significant to me in that fleeting segment of my life. Some were done plein aire and some paintings are conceptual and based on photographs.

"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time."
T. S. Eliot
